You Die

You never expected to end like this. It never occurred that things like this happened to people.

You wonder what will become of your body. How long will it be before you are found or before your parents and friends and loved ones learn what became of you? You are mildly jealous at the knowledge that they will go on with their lives without you.

You never made it to the new millennium. The big year 2000. You didn't even make it to the 90's. Why did it feel as though so much more was destined for your life?

You vaguely wonder, amidst all this thinking, if death is supposed to include so much thought and reflection. Death was supposed to be the end... was it not?

A quiet voice breaks your thoughts, whispering through the nothingness, "Wake up." You remain quiet, focusing on the voice and it comes again. "Wake up."

You nervously state, "I am awake."

The voice murmurs, "I thought if I let you see what was coming, you would try to get away. I didn't think you would run to it." You remain silent, you didn't expect to die, nor did you want to die. Having your mistakes brought into the light makes you feel worse. The voice breaks the silence, "I will give you life again... Are you ready?"
